Oh man, this was good. Say what you want about Brick By Brick... I've always liked the proportion of stage to dance/floor and bar...lots of room... This night I didn't really get the color balance right, and tried adjusting it in Vegas... I guess I could use some help. Very red indeed. Love Retox though, fast and furious, and urban assult on the ears, in a good way.

Innerds, fronted by Bobby Bray, of The Locust... I like this one a bit more than the others because I took the camera and held it up high over my head and had no idea what i was gonna get, just hoped I could capture a nice over head shot of the band... turned out ok.
These guys, blew me away. Such ferocity. I had never been to the Tower Bar before, and seeing these bands during my first visit made me really appreciate the grunginess and comfort that dive bars give you. This music is perfect. Hands started to cramp up during this set...was a long night of camera work. But well worth it.

Zealots Of Bliss - "Love"
Recorded on a hot summer night in 1997 to a 4-track cassette recorder in a Mission Hills apt living room. All improv, what you hear is what we did in one un-rehearsed jam session-turn recording session.

The Sky Is Falling
This one..., years in the making in my head, and pieced together quickly to defeat any over analysis on my part. 5/5/2000 were a San Diego band formed in the 90's by Cattle Decapitation frontman Travis Ryan and Nathan Berlinguette. This song came from, the Accretions Records release 015, "Fin". It contains audio from Air Traffic Control in San Diego during the doomed flight of PSA 182 in 1978. Here I merged original video and footage from SOHO to create a parallel "visual" dirge.

All Leather at U31 - August 24, 2011 - "Mystery Meat"
From last night's show at U31 in North Park. Used super slow shutter speed on this for the effects. So this is how it looks in the raw footage. I merged it with an stereo recording from my Tascam DR-7 (thought it was set for line-input, but it was set for mic... doh). Anyway, it's another ok quick little project. There were other videographers there last night, using what looked like SD Canons', DSLR's and little handheld video cameras. Felt like a competition! haha. Someone even had GoPro cams installed on the stage. Can't wait to see these cool videos from the GoPro cams that someone will upload soon.

RETOX Ten Pounds Of Shit In A Five Pound Bag
Another RETOX video. This one like the first, Piss Elegant, includes current-event footage (london riots here), but also live footage. I shot them during their February visit to the Echo Plex, and did my best to make it work with new music from the recently released CD "Ugly Animals". I think I'd probably do more to the video, now that I've seen it a dozen times, but that would be overkill. It's good enough to make me happy. Time for the next project.

Katie Carney | Audition Video for L'Oréal
Katie Carney's audition video for L'Oréal. Featuring Andrea Ruhl (model), Friend Slash Lover (music), and Acamonchi (graphics).
Another, basically 48 hour video project. For Katie, as she auditions for a spot on L'Oréal's session team in NY during fashion week.
48 Hour Film Project - August 5-7 2011 - Amalgamated Grommets - "What's Your Fantasy"
I was responsible for audio on this little film project...for 7 microphones for 7 characters, who made over 20 costume changes...! No boom, until later in the shooting, because I was drained mentally and out of ideas of how to manage placing lavaliers on characters who wore things like robes, noisy prom-like dresses, disheveled attire, and plastic armor. Despite the insanity, I learned alot about my abilities as a sound guy, my limitations and how to be better prepared for the next 48 Hour Film Project for 2012!
We were honored for the following awards BTW:
Best Title Sequence
Best Costumes
Best Ensemble Acting
Best Use of Prop (the required "ticket")

Murder Inc. - Industrial supergroup, not the hip-hop act.
Listened to this band back in '92-93, the idea of two drummers always gets my attention. Would've been nice to have seen more releases by them.
Nitzer Ebb for your pleasure...
I used to crank this up full-blast back in '87. That high-pitched moog sound grabbed my ears and never let go.
